Dental Hygiene & Gum Care
Supporting you keeping your mouth healthy

Dental Hygiene
Good dental hygiene is vital to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. At Dental FX in Glasgow we recommend that all of our patients attend regular appointments with a dental hygienist.
We have the latest equipment, including an Airflow machine to remove plaque and stains, using the most up-to-date techniques to help keep your mouth in tip-top condition.
Hygienists also play a vital role in stabilising gum disease helping you keep healthy teeth and gums.
Our Hygienists Will
Assess
Your teeth and gums will be assessed to determine the amount of plaque removal you will need and risk factors will be highlighted.
Clean
Your teeth will be professionally cleaned with special equipment and pastes. This process is also known as scaling and polishing. Airflow can be used to remove any especially tough stains.
Educate
The hygienist’s role is to show you how to look after your teeth so that they remain free from plaque in the future. You will be advised on the best tooth brushing technique and given tips on flossing and using interdental brushes.
What Our Patients Think
FAQs
How often should I see the hygienist?
We recommend seeing the hygienist twice a year for most patients, with those with gum disease attending every 3 months.
I have bad gum disease, can you help?
For patients with advanced gum disease (periodontitis) we offer the services of a skilled periodontist for advanced care.
How does Airflow work?
Our Airflow machine uses compressed air, fine powder particles and water to remove plaque build-up (which can cause discolouration) and even the most stubborn stains from the teeth. Many patients find this more comfortable than a traditional scale and polish.
